Glen Tate:

Glen is the stage name of Brazos Valley-based singer-songwriter Glen Tate. Born in Pasadena, Texas in 1978, Glen was inspired to pursue music by his father, a band director, who exposed him to the works of Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and Paul McCartney from a young age. He began his musical career while studying music education at Sam Houston State University, where he fronted power pop ensemble Shortbus Superheros. Glen released three full length albums with the group; “Slow Children,” “Content Mastery,” and “G.E.D.” received airplay on college radio and helped Glen build a national following through an expansive tour of the Midwest. He later transitioned to the classic metal inspired We Are the Murder, with whom he performed vocals on the well-received “An Elegy for Children.” His first solo release, “Silly Love Songs,” marks an ambitious stylistic shift. Heartfelt lyrics accompanied by Glen’s percussive playing style viscerally captures the dynamics of romantic relationships, harking back the singer-songwriters of decades past while also maintaining a modern edge. Glen also fronts the power pop group Anything Twice, which is currently working on its debut release, and hosts the longest running open mic in the Bryan, Texas area.
