Ryan Wilcox

  • New Republic Brewing Taproom 11405 North Dowling Road College Station, TX, 77845 United States (map)

Ryan Wilcox is an entertainer. You see lots of singer songwriters who can play well or write a pretty good song, but Ryan is able to do all that and connect with an audience like a much older, seasoned artist. He has a long list of songs and isn't stuck in one era. Original works range from Junior Kimbrough influenced blues jams, to Dylanesque folk ballads driven by finger-style guitars and harmonica. Your patrons will like his variety and how he mixes covers with his own original works. He also has a sense of humor and wins fans who come back to see him time and time again.

On the business side, he doesn't show up late or try to cut out early. This is a business and he treats it as such. If you've been in this business very long you know what I mean. And every performance is a passion filled, sweat drenched experience, always leaving the crowd wanting more. Living in Fort Worth, Texas, he has made a name for himself playing venues such as Lola's, The Capitol Bar, and The Grotto.

"I had no previous introduction to Fort Worth’s Ryan Wilcox but I took an immediate shine to him in performance. Ryan’s often-acidic lyrics mesh perfectly with a relaxed, droll, self-depreciating stage persona. His vocal delivery is reminiscent of Loudon Wainwright III – that kind of herky-jerky stutter like a tightly wound spring loosening. There’s intelligence in this music that dares you to underestimate the man on stage. Please give his album, “Past and Potential,” a listen. If you have the chance, catch him live." -John Erwin, Bandstalker Fort Worth
